this is the day
when the disc of the sun
aligns with our hallway
itโs quite incredible
the one time a year
when the position of the sun
throws its light
over treetops across the street
into our front windows
at 5:44 pm
down the hall all the way to the bedroom
and I suddenly feel
like some kind of princess
risen from her Egyptian tomb

When I was reading this, I felt I was a HOPI who was watching for the exact moment when I could let the tribe know it was now time to plant the corn. I love to read about how the sun is important in a variety of ways, to so man different histories and cultures.
Thank you for commenting! Yes, isn’t it fascinating to consider how native peoples valued the sun and made it such a central part of their cultures, life and death, religion and planting…blessings and hugs to you, dear Linda!
I can picture the sun and the golden beams lifting the Egyptian princess ๐
