I caught a glimpse of her today
half-devoured by my wooden rocker
so petite
childlike
one tiny foot tucked beneath her
swaying her other foot
among ripples of lavender silk
playing
with rhythm
her delicate fingers
counting accents and
syllables
in mid air
and I recognized her
when she scrunched up her
nothing-of-a-nose
and the tip of her rose-petal tongue
kissed the air
